Vice-President - Legal Operations, Cox Communications, Inc.
Sonya Middleton is the Vice-President of Legal Operations for Cox Communications, Inc. She leads a team of attorneys and legal professionals who support Cox’s core residential and commercial products and Cox’s New Growth business team. Her team provides legal advice on a range of business operations, including content licensing, marketing, product development and support, advertising, and intellectual property. Sonya has served as in-house legal counsel for Cox Communications for 21 years. Before coming to Cox, she was legal counsel for global parts and services businesses at General Electric Energy Services. She began her career as a health care attorney at Kilpatrick Stockton, and after leaving Kilpatrick, she served as inhouse legal counsel for 40 behavioral health hospitals in the South.
Sonya attended Emory University and Duke University Law School. She has three adult children. Her oldest is working toward a master’s in business administration and masters in health administration. Her middle is an avid researcher who is getting a master’s degree in biology and starting the medical school application process. Her youngest is a college athlete who is completing his junior year.
Sonya’s hobbies include half marathons with a goal of staying ahead of the “sweep vehicle”. She is also an aspiring writer who has ideas for several novels.
