EdelmanNyree is a top Washington, D.C.-based public relations executive recognized for her expert strategic and corporate reputation counsel to Fortune 500 companies. As Executive Vice President, Crisis & Risk Communications at Edelman, she brings over two decades of integrated communications experience across sectors including consumer, automotive, education, cable & television, entertainment, financial services, health, and energy. Her mastery in media relations has landed clients in some of the world’s most prestigious outlets.
Before Edelman, Nyree served as Senior Vice President for Public Relations at TV One Networks and Executive Vice President/Senior Consultant of Reputation Management at Porter Novelli. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice President at MSLGROUP and Vice President at The McGinn Group, where she was a senior architect for the agency’s largest account and led the General Motors assignment—one of the most significant client relationships during a transformative era, including its 2009 bankruptcy and recovery.
Nyree’s foundation in the industry was built early in her career with Prudential Financial, Ogilvy Public Relations and The Rosen Group, where she interned while studying at Rutgers University and was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA). After receiving her B.A. from Rutgers University School of Communication, Information and Library Studies, she went on to earn her a Master’s in Corporate & Public Communication from Seton Hall University.
She is the recipient of multiple awards, including the PRSA Big Apple Award (2001); the National Press Club’s Vivian Award (2013, 2014, 2017); the PR News Platinum PR Award Honorable Mention (2016); the 2021 Diversity Action Alliance Distinguished Communicator Award; PR Executive of the Year by The CableFaxies in 2022; and the 2023 PRNEWS Top Women Industry Champion. Most recently, she received in May 2025 the Spectrum Circle Award for Innovation in Media. Her leadership and influence have also been recognized by Washington Life Magazine, Capitol Communicator, and Pocstock’s Future of Black America Top 50 Leaders list.
She is a charter member and former board member of ColorComm and has served on numerous boards and advisory councils including the Public Relations Society of America Foundation, Arthur W. Page Society DE&I Advisory Board, and the Public Relations Advisory Council at North Carolina Central University. In 2022, she joined the board of the National Association for Multi-ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) and later that year was inducted into the Recording Academy (GRAMMYS) Class of 2022. Most recently, she was elected to the Rutgers University SC&I Alumni Board as co-Vice president in 2024.
Her volunteerism mirrors her extensive professional experience and engagement and includes being a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated.
